All: I am getting back to the starter for my 1950 A. Have taken it apart and straightened out and cleaned up the post coming out of starter to engage switch and cleaned up the switch. Now I need to put the starter together (I have not done this part before).
There are four brushes that surround the the small end of the armature, located inside the case where there are slots (in the case) covered by a tough paper and a steel band. How do I get those all compressed back enough to slide the armature between them?
Sorry to have hit a blank spot in my process, but hope to get an education here. (I can take the starter to a local repair shop and probably get this done but would like to know how to do it myself.)
Thanks!
