2155 Load seals and another problem

Hi All - I need a considered opinion from the brain trust. Load shaft seals were starting to drip, got new seals and bushings, why not, the tractor is 6 mos new to me, 5500 hours. Got a new trans filter while I'm at it. Drop the filter and on top of it and in it, is a chewed up gasket, rubber not brake pad. A big piece matches the outside diameter of the filter, like the seal ring for a motor oil filter, but parts diagram from Mother Deere shows there isn't one. I'v had zero hydraulic issues, no whine, chatter, catch in motion, sticking in range, nothing. Previous owner had full service records, it was his baby. Can't let it go, it'll make me crazy (er). Incidentally in this process I've had a chance to experience the differences in German vs Japanese engineering ( I have a 950 as well) and by the time I'm done I'll be up to a really good rant about Mannheim green Thanks

More accurate to blame the American engineers and accountants at Dubuque who pushed some questionable designs onto the Germans.

Should be a square shaped packing like a o-ring to seal the filter cover to the main case. Have you pulled the sump screen yet ? If so any junk on it ? If not DO IT.

Have seen the rubber seal on the filter itself come off the filter and get pushed upstream toward main pump. It sounds like you caught it before that happened as all functions are good.
I have worked with and on several different makes of utility tractors over the years and still prefer the JD's!

I am a fan of them over the other manufactures. It is just that they loose the brake friction material and go metal on metal more than Waterloos. Transmission oil pipework can crack or break in particular if filter service is ignored . The SCV returns oil to the sump.
That said we had and used as daily livestock feeding .A 2020,2120, 1640,1840 and 2355 that served us well without brake or hydraulic failures. .

I think system design is more at fault for hyd failure than losing brake material. IMHO supply tube failures in utility tractor hyd systems is caused from hyd pump cavitations. Moisture in hyd system causes premature brake material failure in both utility & rowcrop models
