well like I need another project bought my friends 1931 John Deere D tractor yesterday he hasn't ran it in three years when he last shut it off he left the clutch engaged it sat outside for three years now it's stuck what the best way to get it unstuck? it's sad he let it get this way he just lost interest in it the motor only turns over 3/4 of a turn he had the valves ground hate to take the head back off might try belting it up to another tractor see if it loosens back up no way could you hand start it now thanks for any advise Howard

If you can't turn it over by hand you should not try belting it, take the spark plugs out and get some oil in it and roll it over by hand.

Pull the valve cover & loosen the valves as it has one stuck. DON'T belt it up!

Remove Spark Plugs, fill cylinders with your choice of liquid eg, Diesel Fuel:

Remove exhaust pipe / muffler, fill exhaust system with Diesel Fuel:

Diesel may run out of Carb, that's OK.

Remove Engine OIL Drain plug:

Let sit for a week:

Try turning Engine over by HAND:
