2955 hi lo issue

I have a late model 2955 with a cab. The hi lo was out when I bought it. I split, rebuilt hi lo-it was bad shape-every ring/seal/oring I replaced.
I put back together and when I shift into hi it bogs the engine down. While I shifted into hi I hit the clutch to come to a rolling stop and its like I hit the brakes and it stopped me almost instantly.
I checked the pressure at the shift cover and am getting 150 psi
I split again went through hi lo with a fine tooth comb-no issues
I did notice the clutch plates which were brand new got hot-there are some rings that showed up on them.
I also rebuilt the shift cover.
Went to 2 different dealers and neither have any idea what could be going on.
I could buy a reman hi lo but I just don't think that's the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It takes oil pressure to "release" low range, at the same time it "engages" Hi range,,so you are not getting low range released, low range is spring loaded to the engaged position,, Hi range needs pressure to engage it,,I know this seems as clear as mud... And I know how tuff this job is,,especially with a cab...you will soon realize why I don't enjoy this model...

just a though did you get the pin that has to line up when you installed the piston that work the hi and the one that release the low side if you didnt that could be the problem id a 3650 whitch is same as 2950 3150 us and i know one the piston clutch has a dowel pin in the cly where the piston goes

You have a problem in the shift valve. You not getting the low side to release when the high side engages.

The re-man hi-lo/quad packs are extremely expensive from John Deere! I priced one a couple years ago as I needed one for a 2940.

I did find one at ALL State Ag Parts for considerably less but had to change one of the internal sun gears to match 2940 input shaft splines.

The little Deere 'two speeds' are a weak point on these tractors. They all use pretty much the same two speed from the small ones up to the bigger versions and from the 40 series to the 55 series.

I would check the shift cover and air check the two speed from the top...but I've never seen any problems with the top shift-cover much beside sometimes it's tough to catch the internal pipes. My best guess is something is stacked-up wrong in the clutch or brake packs...or two many thrust washers...something like that inside the two speed itself??

I'm with Ragnarok, Top cover rarely causes problems, and a 2955 is just a 2020 with a bigger engine, when you build a 80HP tractor and use a Hi/Low & PTO clutch that will fit in a Gallon Ice Cream bucket you know it's not going to hold up...

The Low clutch pack will go together a couple different ways,,unfortunately only one way will work,,go back into it and re-check the assembly..

When I bench test the hi lo when I apply air to one of the middle tubes some air leaks out around the shaft that goes through the middle.
The rings on that shaft I replaced 2 times because I thought it was odd some air was leaking out. My next thought was the drum needs replaced. My issue with that is there is almost no wear marks at all ...basically new looking...but it does leak...a little
Ill need to ck but I don't remember if I could get it to shift on the bench with air..
I will test this out and let you know

it looks like it can go 6 different ways because of the clutch disks they have a protrusion on them. I cant find in the service manual anything about which way it goes? Is this whast your talking about going a few different ways

Yes,, but there is only "ONE" right way,,hard to explain.. keep in mind that the low clutch is spring pressured in the "on" position, and when oil pressure is applied to the Hi clutch it releases the low clutch...a real mechanical marvel...

The 2 pieces of the hi lo that I posted a picture of ...when I put those together can you tell from that picture which way goes to the top of the oil tubes?
