If your talking about my kit, 4430 turbo, manifolds and muffler, 4320 elbow and a home made adapter between the turbo and the elbow.

I got a dumb question..can you use the turbo with an oil bath? I have an M and W manifold and pan for a 4020 but we rarely use ours so never put it on.

I have never tried it,,one thought is it may want to suck the oil out of it,,next thought would be it would not let enough air through,,sorta like when you get a cherry stuck in you milk shake straw...

I always thought no but I bought a 4020 this spring with an M&W turbo and it has an oil bath aircleaner on it.It has been on there for a long time looking at it.I have since sold the turbo off it. Tom

I've got a '64 4020 powershift with an M and W and the original oil bath. It works fine. It is a low hour tractor, and had been set up with that turbo a long time. The air cleaner does not lose oil, but I have often wondered if performance would be better yet with a dry air filter.

In the fall of 1972,I was one year out of OSU looking for a 100 hp tractor.I first priced an 1850 at about $4500 then went to our JD dealer
McIlvain Eq.to see if he had any 4020s.He had one the owner ran low on oil with a bad engine for $1800 and was doing a 4520 repower with the
4620 engine kit and would sell me the 4520 engine for $1200 .I put the two together using the original oil bath air cleaner. The engine was
set at 155 hp when I installed it,and with the M&W pan, fan, and shroud, and radiator was a good running tractor.I never had the filter lose
any oil at that power, which we did use, plowing working ground and pulling our 3800 copper.

Do you have a picture of that 4020 with 4520 repower?
How did the exhaust went trought the hood of the 4020?

Tim made a comment about spacing up the hood.
This can be done by using a spacer from a 4320 that goes between clutch housing and dash + install 4320 rear side panels. That's for the rear part.
For the front, It it not as easy, probably only way is to modify the fuel tank support to space up the side panels and screens? Or lenghten the front side panels and side screens? (use 4320 screen shortened?).

I always wanted a 4020 with a turbo and Powershift. I ended up buying a 4020 rear end and front axle in junk condition fairly cheap, and for the front, I went to a salvage yard and got a complete 4320 front end, from motor to nose and hood, plus the spacer to set between clutch housing and dash.
Seems like an easy project, I will just have to lenghten some linkages, the rest should bolt right on.

The 4320 being factory turbo has a much wider hood, much more cooling capacity, the air filter is in front of the rad, but there is actually lots of room compared to a 4430.

If I did not find the 4320 halve , I would probably have made a 1/2 4320 engine installation with a spaced up hood, 4320 front exhaust manifold, late 4020 intake manifold, etc...

I no longer have a picture of the 4520 repowered 4020 that I know of.The tractor looked original except for the fake hood scoop on the top
left of the hood where the turbo and elbow were, and hiding the pipe over the radiator from the air cleaner. It also was hard to tell the frame
rails were lengthend 2" between the engine and fuel tank support and double framed there, and the hood was lengthend 2 at the back.
