John Deere 620 increase hp

Look to increase the horsepower on my JD620 to be a little
more competitive in pulling. It pulls 6500 and 7500 using
13.6.-38 tires and all ways spins out in 1 st gear. Runs out of
power in 2nd gear . Should I increase the tire size what can I
do the the motor to help it I believe it is stock. Any
suggestions?

How much do you want to pay ? You can "blueprint" the engine up to higher specs and have more power without the engine being foul tempered or unreliable.
Custom 45 over pistons with 9:1 compression and use premium gas. Send the cam and followers to a grinder and tell them what you want to do, the pistons specs and fuel octane.
Take the head to an engine shop that knows how to open up the eyebrows around the intake and perform a three angle valve job.
Match the head ports to a set of LP manifolds.
Blend the rough edges out of the intake and exhaust ports.
Install valve springs from a 830.
Replace the mesh innards inside the air cleaner with a dry air filter element.
Should take her from 48HP to maybe 60 something HP.

13.6's in that weight class will get you nowhere. Go for 16-9's or 18-4's and keep in in 1st. Should pull it easy without doing anything unless it is totally wore out.

What B&D said is lots of money to just get 60HP. Why hurt your wallet that bad and just build a Moline? With same money, you may have 150HP.

As MSD pointed out the three most important factors in making a full pull have been ignored . They are traction, traction and traction.

I agree, but it will be slow and boring to watch that thing crawls to the end. The last 50ft would be interesting, but the first 250F...

At least for spectators, they should made 620 Powershift, so a guy can go to the end faster...
