gas 3020, leaks a small amount around the oil fill cap, I thought the breather tube coming out of the rocker/tappet cover was plugged, ran some mechanical wire up there, seems to be breathing, any ideas on how to get a better seal on the cap, or how to stop this? think its probly a pretty good engine, has some old fuel in it and when you turn it off it keeps dieseling, so probly not much blow by

Put a new rubber washer in the cap to seal it. They get hard with age and heat to where they won't seal very well. Oil naturally splashes up into the fill cap when the engine is running then gravity lets it run out if the washer doesn't seal.

If the new rubber does not help you will find the threads worn. I think you can buy the pipe that goes in the block new still as well as the cap the dipstick mounts on. I have a very high hour 4020 that we replaced both on to stop the leak. Tom

Try turning the idle speed way down so as it quits at idle and that may solve the dieseling problem. Some of those carbs. have a solenoid on the bottom for this too ? yours may not or got by-passed ? May want to try a lower heat range spark plug too ?

Dieseling can cause rings to break, so bad idea to let it do that, slow the idle WAY down and it will stop.
