John Deere 40T

I am new to this forum and know very little about John Deere tractors but I am replacing some parts and preparing a model 40
to paint. I have given the tractor to my son and we will be working together on it over the next few months when he is in
town. I have a question about the hydraulic oil. What kind of oil is best for this and where do I put it in. I restored a
2n Ford in 2003 haven't worked on one since then.

The operator's manual recommends SAE 10W oil.

Take a look at the photo below of the filler cap located under the seat cushion.

The Touch-O-Matic system holds approximately 5 1/2 quarts.

Take a look at the oil level test cock.

Open the oil level test cock.

Add SAE 10W oil until it begins to drip from the oil level test cock.

Hope this helps.
