So I bought an LI with a sickle mower and have a few questions.
1. It has the mounts for a battery on the frame but has no generator, starter or any wiring. No signs of any of that stuff either. The starter hole has what appears to be the correct tin cover with 70 years of gunk on it. Also no lights or the mount for the rear light either. Also there is a JD original temp gauge where the Amp gauge would go. I know it all could have been stripped off but is it possible it could have came this way? Also has the TSx-89 carb which looks like it was mainly for hand start tractors.
It is an early 1941 with hydraulics and the LI stamped in the top of the tranny.
Thoughts please.

Well I also have a 1941 LI, but mine is fully electric. I assume all the frames were made the same, so the mounts for the battery would be there even if it was a hand start. The starter mounting hole would have the plug in it just like the LUC units. I've never seen a temperature gauge on a LI but since the LUC had a temperature gauge that went in the upper water pipe, I guess it would have been a nice add on.
