2510 load control oil seal

My 2510 is leaking hydraulic fluid out of one of load control shaft ends. Can I just replace the oil seal on the one end that is the problem, without taking out the shaft? Some old posts on the subject mention replacing the bushings - - is that always necessary? Thanks.

It takes an entire disassembly to remove the seal. Unless you want to do it again replace the bushings and seals and shim up to remove side to side play. Inspect shaft for wear as well. Do it right and it will last for many years. There is a seller from IN on ebay that has an improved seal and seal holder that is a great set up. I have used six or eight sets of them so far and am very impressed. Make sure the new bushing are the ones with the o-rings in them. Tom

Yes I really like that kit. The seal they use is a John Deere seal that they make a holder for that fits your tractor. Make sure you washer up and remove all side to side play. I think this kit will last 20 or more years. Tom

Back when I was a JD dealer service manager I was taught to only replace bushings if worn. I do like the seal design of Bolings Machine shop bushings with inner seals better than JD engineer's seal design.
