51 B Radiator shutter rod

I need a new radiator shutter rod. The section that runs from the steering pedestal lever through the dash and alongside the tank. It connects to another bracket underneath the hood. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I need the rod as well as the threaded fitting on the end of it that connects to the lever at the steering pedestal.

That would be an easy enough part to make if you only had the measurements. The only ones I have are in my hoods covered up. Should be several junk yards with them around the country. Green magazine and 2 cyl. mag are loaded with vendor ads.

I made my own for a different color tractor out of 3/8" rod, a treaded eye-bolt and some Nylok lock nuts and some other pieces. I made it so I twist the eye-bolt and it draws the rod back or the other way, pushes it forward, and operates the linkage leverage at the shutters. [Have no camera sorry.] But it was cheap, works great.

The rod is just 1/4" stock. The end that threads on is the same as the throttle linkage uses. It should be easy to find.

The rod is 3/8" and 42" long. Just thread the ends. The end that attaches to the pivot in the hood, run a self locking nut on, then a washer on both sides of the pivot, and another locking nut.

Mark-Ia,

You must be thinking of some other rod. The one the op needs is a 1/4" and is threaded on only one end. The pivot end is attached with two washers and a 3/32" by 1/2" long cotter pin. There's no room for any type of nut at the pivot end.

Steiner (800-link_disallowed) has the 1/4" threaded fitting. Either JDS2995 or JDS2998 depending on the length needed.
