All, I have a 49' B Model. The Magneto on it is a Fairbanks Morse FMJ. I am having hell finding info or rebuilt kits for it. Can anyone help out on this??

No kits available. You buy individual parts. You need to look
for parts for a type J. Try mcdonaldcarb.com They have a lot of
mag parts and free shipping on $15 order.

Here is a link to the <a href="https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xservice+manual+for++fairbanks+morse+edison+and+wico+magnetos.TRS0&_nkw=service+manual+for++fairbanks+morse+edison+and+wico+magnetos&_sacat=0">SERVICE MANUAL For FAIRBANKS-MORSE EDISON and WICO MAGNETOS</a> listed on eBay.

This manual has 3 pages (5-7) of information on testing and repair.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what mag you have but in general those Fairbanks mags. throw off ALOT better spark than the wico's ever could. If that is a more modern looking mag like the wico XH looks then parts should be easy to find for it.

Thanks for the help so far. Noticing on some of the manuals that James Howell posted, they say Fairbanks and Wico on the same book. Are these enter hangable? Sane company?

I have no idea why they used wico ? Maybe lowest priced vendor at the time or availability or both ?
I used to work on a heck of a lot of magneto's. Oil field guys brought them in by the box full to get them repaired ! Those were mainly 1 cyl. Fairbanks Morse mags. I'll tell you for a FACT they will jump about twice the free air spark a wico will.

Seems I recall reading articles in the past telling how Deere had a repair parts availability issue with Fairbanks Morse about the time the Wico C (a brand new design) hit the market. The Wico C proved cheaper than the Fairbanks RV and parts were available. Also sticks in my mind the Wico bragged of suing teh brand new Aluminum Nickle Chrome (AlNiCo) magnets which were more powerful and more permanent than the Nickle Chrome magnets of the RV.

The Wico is also simpler, easier to work on and easier to install on the tractor than the Fairbanks. The Wico impulse trip is also adjustable where the Fairbanks is not.

Both are good magnetos but they are simply very different from each other and if I correctly recall the articles I've read in the past it boiled down to two issues, parts availability & first cost. Wico won. Agree, that RV tosses up a mean blue spark at cranking speed!

Great info! I'm just glad I found a cap and rotor upgrade that will work. Hopefully everything else last a LONG time. I'm off to changing the rod bushings now. Once that is done, I think this B will be a great tractor for the rest of my life.

I went and looked at google images. This fellow has the Fairbanks Morse FMJ which is a newer model than the RV. I never have worked on the RV ones.
