Select Control Valve Repair Kit

So I picked up one of these kits today to try and fix the problem with what I have learned after reading a lot of advice on here. What a cluster when I got the pack. Instructions are crappy and half of the part numbers listed in bag don't relate to what I see on parts breakdown. Do they throw in parts not listed on the RE10924 kit that I do not need or what am I missing here?

Yes there are some o-rings that you will not need,,you will also need 4 AR86535 poppets and a AR82570 lower kit. If you have trouble with it you can ship it to me and I will re-seal it with improved seals calibrate it and bench test it for you.

I probably should Tim! I'm going to give it a shot! I do know if I want it done right to send it to you! My hose connections aren't leaking but when I put a gauge on scv, one side drops slowly and the other falls quickly. Going to try and replace poppets and seals and see if I can correct. What about grinding the seat? Is this common?

No grinding the seats are not normal, just be careful as you go,keep the long Springs with the pressure puppets
they are marked in the pic, take some pics with your phone to help your memory

Good luck adjusting the poppet valves. Back when I was JD dealer service manager I witnessed several so-called technicians that couldn't set poppet valves correctly. IMHO JD engineers went out of their way to make the scv over-complicated.

When I began working in a John Deere dealership my very first work order was to rebuild an SCV. Needless to say I didn't
make "book" time. I agree that Deere put a lot of engineering $ into those valves and the Steering valves. They do work
really well though when all is set up right.
It would be interesting to know how many of those valves Deere ever built. I know they changed over the years to a
degree but they were in production from the early 60's to the late 90's
BTW we had a new hire start at the shop a number of years ago who, because he was a machinest, thought he was hot stuff.
He overhauled 2 SCV's in about an 1 1/2 hours. Needless to say they ended up on my bench when they came back. I argued
with the service manager that "Hot Stuff" wasn't going to learn how to do these by me fixing them, but lost that one
too.
