Tension on hitch lever - 3020

I have a 1964 3020 ... with the hydraulic levers on the left dash.
Is there a way to reduce the tension on the lever that operates the three point hitch? I have trouble feathering the hitch
for grading work.

Yes it is most likely the cable dragging,,you can remove it and lift the boots on the ends and spay penetrating fluid into the cable housing as you move the cable in and out, this will help to flush it out, after it loosens up work some light oil into it,,this is worth your time,,they are pricey.

I had to remove the cable from the 4020 and soak it in my parts washer for a few days. I was able to get it working good again. New ones are expensive.

If you can think about it, spraying some penetrating lube on the cable where ever you can get to it every now and then will help a lot, the spiral cover of the cable housing will let the lube in,,just as it will let moisture in...

Okay, thanks to all of you for the replies.

The cable was already replaced a few years ago. I will lube it, and I will check the handle pivot.

Is there anything back at the valve end with the gears where friction can be reduced?

Take the cable out of the tractor, free it up, lube it and chuck it in a drill....run for a while, lubing more and pulling it in and out. Saves a cable.

I checked the tractor: the resistance is not in cable or lever, it is whatever the cable moves at the end.

Any advice about reducing resistance at the business end of the cable?
