John Deere 730 LP issues.

I have a newly acquired John Deere 730LP, having issues getting it to start. Has a freshly rebuilt starter, 2 800 CCA battery's, 2 ought battery cables, rebuilt converter, new points and condenser but still doesn't want to start. The most I can get it to do is give a puff of white smoke every so often it briefly fires off. I'm honestly not sure what to do at this point, timing is set 5 degrees after TDC. Any help would be much appreciated.

First and easiest thing to do is check the air cleaner bowl to make sure it is clean and full of oil. It won't start if it doesn't have oil in it. There is a small hole in back of the regulator
that if you push in with a small not sharp object you should be able to here gas flowing. If not you have a gas problem.

Thanks for the advice, the tractor dosent even currently have the air cleaner in it, I'll re-assemble everything and start there.

My father in law went thru that years ago on a 730 LP. It will not run without the air cleaner on the tractor.
