Two Cylinder brake latch help

Do any one have any good brake latch mods and pictures to post for the two cylinders. I have a lot of trouble reaching them on my Johndeere 60. I am 73 years old and can't bend down to apply and release them any more. Any help would be thankful for.

Get some of the old spring wire automotive door panel retainer clips. Clip it onto the platform and then they hold the latch from going all the way back. Quick, easy and no modification needed.

Tie a cord on the latch and tie the other end to the seat but have lt long enough so it will lay out of the way. Be careful about getting on and off of the tractor. I have a 50 and that is I do, I am 84 just be carful.

Take a look at the photos below.

This "J" hook was made from part of a strap that secures chain link fencing to the fence post.

Push it against the bottom of the battery box when not in use.

Works on any length latch lock and is easily transferred from one tractor to another.

Hope this helps.

Johndeereyellow,
I bought an old "A" that had a machine screw drilled and bolted to the turned up edge of the platform that kept the latch from falling all the way down to the axle. Instead it sat on this machine screw. Pretty neat. I put it on other tractors I owned because I liked it so much. Good Luck!

My father in law made me a set of brake latches for my 60 that work pretty slick. They are extended to the back side of the pivot pin a few inches and have a small weight welded to the bottom. So to release the brake, simply push on the pedal to take the pressure off the latch and it falls away on its own. When released, the back side of the latch falls against the axle housing so the front is still close the brake pedal, but not touching. To lock the brake, I just push the pedal down and roll my heel down to push the latch into place.

For me I drilled 2 1/4" holes on the floor board. One on each side & used 2 pieces of flat stock 3/4 wide 2.5" long & 3/16 thick.
One 1/4 bolt on each side, they are out of the way & prevent the lock from going all the way to the axle.

On the side rail of the floor pan, a 1/4 inch from the rear of it, use a hacksaw and cut down to the floor. Heat that triangle piece and bend it out so its flat, works like a charm.

My 730 has really neat modification done to the brake latches. You can operate them with your foot. It has a counter weight bout the size of silver dollar(maybe a little larger) in the back of modified latch. You can step on front side to latch them or just step on brake pedal to release them. Im not smart enough to post pictures on here but I can send them to a email address or text them. These latches really look good too.
