2030 brake issue

Hello all,

I have a 2030 that's about 1974 vintage. The hydraulics pickup screen was plugging up which turned out to be the brake linings deteriorating. The brakes were replaced and the issue was mostly solved. Now the hydraulics are okay but if I'm working the tractor hard the brakes will fade away until totally gone (the pedals will be completely depressed and stay in that position). The rest of the hydraulics will still work okay but are a little "spongy" but tolerable. I've bled the brakes repeatedly and this works okay for awhile but the issue returns. Where do I need to start to trouble shoot the issue?

Best regards,

You need to remove the lines from the back of the brake valve and cap them off and see if the problem is the valve or in the rear axle. Any hyd. place can sell you caps to fit the lines. Tom

Welcome to YT.
Ditto what Tom stated. The only thing in common with the hyd system & brake valve is the fact that trans pump keeps brake reservoir full when it's pumping oil BUT hyd system supplies no pressure to brake pistons.

I need a little more info......the hyd system fills the reservoir, I bleed off the brakes and then cap the lines the pedals should stay solid, correct? But I will have no brakes, right? So this is just a check to see if fluid is leaking by the seals. Thx.

mr. TIM,, i'm little ROBERT, WARRENTON, VA. i,m just sending you a message on the OLD 7520 tractor i talked to you. i found out the book calls for pump timing 27 degrees BTDC. it was timed at TDC, so i changed it and it starts and runs like a "DEERE" the tough part was NO timing marks on the flywheel except 240 degrees,, sooo i had to figure and add a TDC mark, then figure where 27' BTDC should be. it runs so i must be close.
