JD 662 Rake problem

I have been having a problem with my 662 rake. It acts like it has a clutch on the gearbox but according to this there is only a clutch that engages and disengages. Mine stops spinning when it gets into a little bit of a bind. I have looked at the parts diagram and it looks straight forward. Not sure what is slipping. Any help would be appreciated.

Could it be tire slip? There was a post recently about a similar problem - you can look back a day and see it. If the ratchet in one of the wheel assemblies is not working right, then only one wheel is spinning the rake and it will slip that tire in heavy hay.

My old JD rake had a chain in the right wheel drive that would occasionally come off. It would then slip the left wheel in heavy hay, but also you would notice that the ratchet would not click when you made a right turn. It had a loud clicker and would tell on itself right quick.

It doesn't appear to be tire slip. It looks like the shaft is turning going into the gearbox but the rake quits turning.

It's possible spring(key 12) is weak or broken or cogs on gear &/or hub(keys 9 & 10) are worn not staying engaged.

Hopefully I can get through the last few acres I have to rake and then I will. Be opening it up to find out. I will post pics of What I find.
