when the gate is fully closed the belts just bearly turn making it very hard to start a bale in thick grass. If I set there a while the belts will start turning some faster. Is there a way to tighten the belts some? I have read the 100,000 page book on it and have found nothing!!!It worked great last year when put in the shed. The belts seem to be good, no hot bearings, pickup is turning.I have baled around 30 bales but it is slow, real slow when it plugs Am I missing something ??
thanks
Bob

Hold the hydraulic lever a little longer when closing the gate and see if that corrects the problem. Tension arm may not be coming all the way down before the gate closed/locked light comes on.

Yes Tx Jim its coming down on the stops. I though for a while it was hydraulic related but that was just ruled out. There is rubber on both rollers (upper and lower). I figured out that if I give the hydraulic 4 or 5 extra bumps it will start turning. The jd man that just left thinks I need to replace the upper and lower coated rollers, $$$$$ !! ha. don't know if he mechanic or salesman !! haha
thanks for the reply Tx Jim !!

I usually do Roger but looks like I'm going to have to give it a few more bumps !
thanks for the reply !!

You're welcome
I've owned two 467 balers that would bale hay just fine with original rubber coated rollers. 1st one had 30,000 & present 467 has 23,000+ bales on them.

according to the monitor this thing has 12000 give or take. Personally I still think something somewhere just aint quite right. I dunno. he pressure tested both remotes while here, he says they are good to go (on tractor) but as stated, i figured out that if I close the baler all the way+ then give it 2 or 3 more good bumps(on remote) the belts go to spinning as they should. got me. got me a gremlin some where. If I get the ole girl figured out I will post.
anywho thanks again !!

If the tractor is at idle, it can cause the problem by not having enough flow to close the gate and lower the tension arm.

Flow can also be restricted at the tractor with the adjustment for flow on turtle, or you can have a flow restriction in the coupler that plugs into the tractor.

If it works when you bump it a couple of times, you have a hydraulic problem, mainly flow on closing the gate.

Probably a waist of money Roger but I picked up some new hydraulic ends for the baler, going to try them today. Both sets of remotes are on the rabbit (I double checked by raising the gate) and I switched the baler hoses around. I really figured when he pressure tested the tractor remotes the side I was using would show weak, but he says its good, both are good he says? Ill try the ends and if that don't do it ill just keep bumping her a little more.
thanks for the ideas guys!!

You might try removing one of the hyd restrictors. Key 33 has the smallest orifice(0.094'') & that hose attaches to RH side of tension valve housing. FYI orifice(key 20) opening is 0.113''

Pressure may have tested okay, but probably did not check flow. Takes a flow rater of some sort to do that.

What tractor and when did you change trans filter/screen?

Ok guys for what its worth shes fixed. I'm using JD 4030. The smallest hose coming from the baler to the tractor port had a small bubble (not leaking that I could tell?) so I replaced it just in case. When installing new male( old jd type) fittings at the end of last year I guess I deleted the orfice ( still don't know what I did with it!!! so long story short,1 new hose, 1 new JD type male end, new orfice and 1 new coupler for orfice. I don't know if I actually did anything to repair the problem but she pumped out 156 bales yesterday without a hitch !!!
Thanks for both of your help !!!
