2940 steering cylinder repair

I have a 2940 steering cylinder that I took apart using the tip TRACTORMAN NC Posted 3/10/10.

I got the seals in, but how do I get the snap ring that was removed thru the hd line hole back on??? It seems impossible to get it back on thru the hole?

If I remember correctly, the snap ring should have a small hook on one end, you "hook" it in the hole in the cylinder barrel and turn the end cap which draws the snap ring in as the end cap is turned.
