I have a 1964 John Deere 4020 that might start & run for a short time then kill's it might start again & kill's I changed the fuel pump that wasn't the problem. I started checking for spark at the coil had nothing there until I started messing with the switch then would get a spark now & then. I have replaced this switch a couple times now the last time a year ago. I'm now thinking I have another switch problem. Dose anyone have theses same problems ? This tractor has been converted over to the 12 volt system several years ago & has electronic ignition.

If a gas or LP gas model they would of been 12 Volt from the factory.
You may have something as simple as some bad wiring ? since you wiggled it and it acted up. Not sure but it may also have a resistance wire running to the coil. And if so I'm not sure you are to use that with electronic ign.

Have you attempted starting warm engine with hyd pump de-stroked? When attempting to start warm engine hyd pump could be putting enough strain on starter to lower voltage to ign circuit & also cause engine to rotate slower during starting mode.

yes I tried that with no success . I also replaced the start switch still no success in getting this thing started.
