Instructions in conversion kit say old wiring from 24 volt system to alternator has either brown, blue and black or brown, blue and pink wires.
My 4020 has brown, black and white. White connected on 24 volt alternator to lower front post, black connected to upper front post ( these 2 posts are close together) and brown connected to back post.

Which wires from from which posts on old 24v system need to be connected to new 12v alternator post?

Thanks in advance!

I imagine whichever color wires(blue or brown) will go from the new alternator big post to the + battery connection on the new starter solenoid....this wire providing the battery charging.

What kit do you have? Seems like the John Deere kit I installed had a new engine wiring harness.

I have converted the 4020's by simply altering the generator bracket to accept a Delco 12v alternator....taking the 24v starter to a starter/alternator repair shop for conversion to 12v...then just modify the existing wiring harness so everything will work(not too bad to do)...will need a parts store ballast resister for one field wire if using a three wire Delco alternator

The hardest thing to get working will be the fuel gauge. Usually requiring both a new gauge and sender for a late serial number tractor. If I recall the JD conversion kit required a new fuel gauge and sender too
