JD 3020 Steering issues

I recently had trouble with my 3020. It started to have trouble steering to the right, went left okay but not right. My local dealer said my steering valve needed to be rebuilt so i took it out and they rebuilt it. I reinstalled it and started the tractor. The tires turned left as soon as i started it. I thought maybe air in the lines so i cracked all of them loose and seemed to get oil out of them. Still the same result so i checked the pressure on the steering lines and have about 2000 psi on the left side and 0 on the right. When turning the steering wheel to the left it will go a turn or so then gets stiff, but if u go to the right it will hit the stop and you can hear the engine lug down a bit.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

The valve is not calibrated correctly, it is a bit ornery to do, and even worse if you have never done one.If your dealer can not get it right ship it to me and I will calibrate it and bench test it.

Thanks for the quick response! I live in central MN, have you ever had one shipped that far? How much do you charge to calibrate and bench test?

Ooh yes,and farther than that, since you "may" have a new $130 kit in yours, $250 plus shipping, they weigh 74
pounds,I will disassemble yours to inspect it,calibrate it and bench test it,I will show you how to ship it
tomorrow when I'm back in the shop you can mail me then [email protected]

Okay I will help you work it out one way or the other. There are not that many that can do them well at the Deere
dealers any more, and I have one of the few bench test stands that can prove them "before they are instaled.as you
know they are no fun to pull and put.

Robert: My 1965 John Deere 3020 was doing something very similar. I have not had good luck with local Deere mechanics so I shipped it off to Tim for a refurbish. I live in east Texas and the cost via UPS was about $85 IIRC. The steering now works like new. Tim is the man for 3020 steering valve issues.

Thanks for the info, i will be in contact with him. I cant seem to find anyone who knows anything about them in my area.
