The oil filter they said is correct for this B does not look like the one that came out. Is this okay for a replacement filter? It's a NAPA 1242
Tried to add photo, but it seems photobucket is all pop up ads now, and locks up the computer! Anyway, original filter has a "boss" at the top, and the hole in both ends is just about the diameter of the stud it slides onto. New filter has no boss, and holes are about the diameter of a half dollar...
 
You may still have one of the original style brass reusable ones ? If so You have to install a stem and a plate in the cap from a later one to make the replaceable ones fit and work right.
 
From your description you have the OEM washable filter. As the other replied you will have to change a few parts to replace with disposable filters.
