NAPA JD Yellows

I am getting ready to paint LI, have looked at other options, but really want to paint it with urethane.

Here are the NAPA colors, I think the top one is the pre 1972 industrial yellow.

Industrials of that age used different yellows I believe. Consult Two Cylinder, Green Magazine, or perhaps someone like Travis Jorde the decal man.

I doubt you will get the right color off the shelf from Napa.

Here is one using a different NAPA paint.

Got it from johnny popper site.

The darker PT12 was what would be close to the original color. The lighter orange/yellow is the later models

I would try to find and follow a sample off of your tractor as there were lots of shades of industrial yellow out there.

As JD seller said, the PT12 is probably right for an early JD industrial. It looks right for my '38 DI. I couldn't find a big spot to match when I painted, so I chose just to match my 1950 MI's color. I had already bought and used a lot of yellow paint, and then about halfway through the painting process I found a big patch in a hidden spot on a minor part. It matched up to some hardware store "Old Caterpillar Yellow" pretty much perfectly. So my tractor is actually lighter then it should be. Might fix it in the far future.

When I painted mine I got a JD rattle can of early industrial yellow and painted a piece of metal. The took the metal to the paint store and had them match it. My thinking was that if it every needed to be touched up, the paint would match the JD paint.

When it comes to NAPA nothing is good ..get a paint chip and go to a "real" paint shop, you will have better results..
