Deere 512 and 553 Loader Questions

Considering adding a loader to my handy 5055d. My options are a 512 and a 553. My brother has a 512 loader and it seems to deliver the mail. The 553 is detachable.

Couple of questions.

Which loader would you prefer and why?

The 553 is a quick attach loader, the 512 not so much. The biggest reason I can see in removing the loader is for heavy service/repair around the engine?

General chores and maybe down the road a square hay grapple.

Experience with either of these loaders and recommendations is much appreciated,

The 5055d was only offered in 4x2. E model was 4x4. Could be a typo - not the first time....

The loaders will both fit the 4x2 tractor. The 512 will not work on the 4x4 tractor. The arch is not tall enough to miss the tires on the MFWD models.

I do not like the lighter 512 loaders. You not just giving up the quick tach feature, the entire loader is lighter. IF your going to really use the loader I would go with the 553. The extra cost will not be much spread out over the life of the loader. I use the quick tach all of the time too.
