2550 - Hydraulic Leak on or Around Pump

I am posting on behalf of my dad, so I apologize in advance if I am not specific enough.

We have a John Deere 2550, MFWD open station with a loader that has "always" had a small leak in or around the hydraulic pump. It was one of those leaks that "wasn't big enough to fix" for years, so we never really tracked it down. However, after raking hay this past weekend, he noticed that the leak is much larger now (dripping down on the road).

Is there anything we should look for specifically? Are there any common issues that we could be dealing with? If it is in the pump, are rebuilds cost-effective?

Thank you all in advance!

On my 2550 the overflow line off of the oil reservoir above the pump started leaking slowly, until the line disintegrated completely then went to a larger leak. I had to take the hood off to fully diagnose this, can't see it from looking behind the screen. The factory line was rubber and it dried out over the years. The replacement from deere was reinforced fabric covered line. This hose starts at the tank, and snakes across the top of the engine and down to the port in the sump that is just about at your right heel when foot is on the brake pedal.
