John Deere round Baler, belts walking over each other

I have a mid 1990's John Deere Round Hay Baler. We have gotten about 100 bales done this year so far. The baler just recently started having a problem of the three belts on the right side (looking at it from the back) have begun walking. The belt on the right and the one on the left try to walk over the top of the third one in the middle. If you don't shut the baler off they will flip the belts. We have checked all the bearings and they are all good. Im not sure what the problem could be. Any help or suggestions that anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!![/b]

What does the rubber look like on the drive rolls? Any hay wrapping on any of the rolls, especially those up high where
it is difficult to see?

Are they John Deere belts or other supplier?

The belts were on the hay baler when I bought it 6 years ago. I got it from a John Deere guy so Im guessing they are JD belts. The baler uses string and there isn't anything on the rollers. The bearings are all good. It seems on a few of the belts they may be a little thinner on one side verses the opposite side. I wasn't sure if I should try to replace the belts or if there was another underlying issue. Belts are so expensive I didn't want to replace them if it turned out to be something else.

Do belts walk with tailgate closed with no hay in baler? Can you put a cabinet or framing square on belts at lacings to determine if belts are cut square where lacing attaches? Some of the rollers have slots in baler frame so rollers can be moved to adjust belt tracking.

Yes, the belts walk when the tailgate is closed and with no hay in it. The laces and the cuts all look even and level but I will give that a try. The one thing I did notice was that a couple of the belts are a little thinner on one side and thicker on the other. I wasn't sure if anyone else had these issues. I just didn't want to buy new belts if there was other possible problems.

Don't forget the secret to making a flat belt track is to crown the center of the pulley/roller. Makes them crawl to dead center of the high spot and stay put. All other issues need addressed first though such as crooked cut ends. Duct tape probably won't last long, but it's certainly cheap enough to try three or four layers, 1/3 as wide as belt.
