2955 front crankshaft seal

Is it possible to replace the front crankshaft oil seal in the tractor without removing the front engine cover.

I believe it is. I've got a 2555 that I did it on. I think the factory glued the seal when they put it in, it was a real pain to get out. It eventually yielded, dont forget the crank oring behind the spacer.

I tore into the tractor when I got home from work yesterday. The seal wasn't the problem. I couldn't tell that the seal wasn't leaking until I removed the dampener and cleaned the area real well. There was several inches of oily dirt and debris in the area around the crank. The problem is the tractor needs a oil pan gasket. Most of the bolts were loose. The bolts on the front of the pan I was able to get almost two turns. I tightened all of the bolts but it is still seeping oil. So I am guessing when hay season slows down I will look into putting a new gasket on the tractor.
