JD 70 gas,oil not getting to rockers.

Should the oil pump be changed or is there an adjustment?

The different Model 70 tractors determines the method of adjusting the oil pressure.

Take a look at the diagram below.





Note the adjusting screw (Key 10) and the 3/8 pipe plug (Key 11).

Take a look at the photos below of "1011" one of our 1953 Model 70s (gas) and "Vernon" our 1956 Model 70 which was originally an LP tractor.

"[b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]62A. Recommended oil pressure is 10-15 psi when engine is running at high idle speed. To check and/or adjust the pressure, proceed as follows: Disconnect the oil pressure gage line from bushing in rear of the governor case and connect the master gage to the bushing. Start engine and observe oil pressure on master gage.

If pressure is not as specified, remove pipe plug from right side of main case and turn pressure regulating screw IN to increase pressure and OUT to decrease oil pressure as shown.[/i:654c4848f0][/b:654c4848f0]"

Adjusting the oil pressure for the Model 70 diesel is similar, but with different parts in a different location.

Check the oil pressure with a known good gauge first. If the pressure is good then it could have a broken pipe inside that feeds the oil up to the front ? Oil feed washer ( not sure if that has one ) on head stud might be wrong one or plugged up too ?

Could be a cracked or loose oil line that feeds it. Line # 7 in the parts diagram.

I had a B that was plugged, and a little shot of air from the air compressor back through the line opened it immediately.
