deere 2550 hydraulic leak

Fairly significant dripping leak behind the ? filter ? like part under the left side foot. Going to tear into it in the morning. What is the likely problem? I am thinking an o-ring blew.

More worrisome is the fluid is milky. Last time we checked the fluid on the dipstick all was ok. Probably about 2-3 months ago at the end of bailing season. Boots on shifters are intact. Do I now also have a water issue?

Took a better look. Looks like the filter split and is leaking. Must be due to the water in the system. We were really cold last week. We are 50 degrees now so I will drain the sump, replace the filter and refill. Hope to h**l I did not split any internal pipes. That would be VERY bad.

Hydro steering filter. But why did it crack? Frozen due to water and not letting the tractor warm up enough? I think water in the hydro is my real issue here...

not likely that it froze inside,, and I don't know why the ran those filters in the first place..I would plumb around it,,deleting it all together..

The filter seems to pick out debris from the oil. While there is nothing particularly visible in the filter it eventually clogs if not changed out.
Dubuque undersized the transmission pump. I wonder if some parts shop would have some high volume pumps cast and machined? Deere sells high volume pumps for some Waterloo tractors.

Thanks guys. i am more concerned about the milky fluid. Where should I be looking for water entry. Boots are good and solid. This tractor has set out for 5 years mostly and not until now have we found milky trans fluid. I gave it a complete redo ( clean screen, new filter and new Deere fluid 2 springs ago, with regular checks on level to insure not going too low. What should I be looking for?

I try to be meticulous on hydro since it is a Manheim tractor.

The camp breather is some thing that gets over looked a lot,and can cause pressure to build on seals and gaskets.

6 months out and still seeing milky hyd oil. Is there any way for coolant to get into the hyd system? Boots are good on the shifters. What other ways can water get in there.

Off to change the oil again.

Was talking to the service manager at the local deere dealer yesterday and he said the same thing - takes 3-4 complete dumps to get the moisture out.
