JD 50 water pump

I think everybody's selling the same ones, had good luck with Steiners, can't kit them unless the impeller is good, and that's unlikely, Just buy a new one and be money ahead.

The early ones had a ceramic washer that is very hard to keep in place as you press them back together, and if it's out of place...it breaks,,and you really don't know it till you put the water back in.. the latter ones are more friendly, you can tell by the serial number which one you have.

Thank you. I will have to get the serial number and pull the pump. First I need to put the clutch and carb on. Poppin John fixed my carb and was pleasant to deal with. Cost me $180 and I should have it tomorrow. When I get it running will post more about that but I'm sure it will be great.

He has done a great job for me.. and I think if your pump has a bypass line on it it will be the later pump, the one that rebuilds better..

I think it's a 53. I didn't see a bypass. Ser number looks like 5008158.

Any thought on where to get one? Can't find much but reproduction on line.
