John Deere 820 oil pressure

I bought this 820 two cylinder a couple of years ago, it had sat outside for a good few years. The pony wouldnt run so Ive replaced the coil packs, contacts and spark plugs but it still wouldnt run until I found the throttle butterfly had come apart. Now that that all fixed the pony seems to run okay. On the diesel motor I found water in the oil, Ive drained that and replaced the filter now all topped up with new oil. Got pony and diesel motors fired up today, the diesel fires very easily but is showing low oil pressure on the gauge. The gauge doesnt actually show psi just low med and high. I know you can adjust the oil pressure on this tractor but just wondered what you guys thought about it befor I made any adjustments. When I start up the diesel engine the arm on the gauge move quickly to just on or slightly above the low point.
Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Bill

On some of those diesels there seems to be a lot of difference between cold and hot oil pressure. I like to set them so when hot at idle I still am in the lower medium range. Not sure but this may be around 15 psi ? This makes them run high when cold and full throttle.

Bill,
Put a known 'good' gauge on to get a true reading. I wouldn't believe the old gauge.

the pressure should only be about 25 PSI max i think from memory.

Evergreen Restorations (Jerry Trcka) in the USA are the people to go to for a new repro gauge that will work and be calibrated.
