Mr. Hammerhandle, Cleaning Fuel Tank

I see you did not get any responses on your fuel tank cleaning question.

I thought sure it was a condenser, but I have also seen the issue you found with the help of all the good folks.

I have pressure washed the inside of the fuel tank with it both removed and still installed on the tractor. Of course in all cases cap, fuel sender, and bottom valve are all removed or open. I then dry it out by running (sucking) a shop vacuum through it for several hours to dry it out.

Mine were never in bad shape, just needed a cleaning. Seems I have seen processes for restoring tanks that are rusty on the inside but I forget what that would be.

Maybe others will post.

I may not have the names exactly right but a couple of polymer-like coatings you can apply inside the tank, first cleaning it out really, I mean really well, pouring some in, sloshing it all around, draining the excess out, and allowing it to set up. They even seal up small holes. They are, as I recall, KREME and RedKote. I successfully used RedKote on a small tank. You can google up details.
