I'm eyeballing a 2521 -Any thoughts?

I'm eye balling a model 2521 with a full cab and a full front end loader with grapple.
Seems to have around 6500 hours on the gage -tires are fair but the inside of the cab is a mess!
All hydraulics are run off a PTO driven pump.
Any thoughts out there?? Possible offer I should make on it??

It is a gas version and is really pretty straight on all tin work. Looks like it has never been painted but it certainly has been used.

Forgot to mention -the location is in west-central Nebraska.
I do not know if the engine is free or not. I'm guessing it is and should be able to run.

2521 ? 2510 ?

Don't understand a "full front end loader", unless it is one of the older Farmhand loaders with the frame/loader
surrounding the tractor. The loader may have ran off of a PTO pump.

Transmission?

Not much $$.

What I mean is a full size - 7ft_ bucket with grapple.
I do not know if it runs -it has been sitting for a few years that I know of - At least 5 years anyway!

Transmission has 8 fwd speed on a selector on the dash.
hours on the gage are in the 6500-6800 range.
Tires are good -all holding air and lots of rubber left for traction.

Loader does not appear to be a Farmhand. Does resemble one though. The loader bolts to the tractor frame just below the cab.

Are they THAT bad???

That's difficult to determine without you divulging what model you're inquiring about!!!!!!!!!!

As previously stated there is no JD model 2521.

It could possibly be a 2510 or 2520. 2510 had small 4 piston hyd pump not suitable for FEL operation which could be the reason for presence of pto hyd pump.

2520s are handy tractors and can bring a premium. Unfortunately not heavy enough for a loader w/grapple and by your description not in the best shape. The loader is probably worth $1000 and tractor might be worth $3000.I would try to find a better one.

Dad had a 2020 Deere with a JD 48 loader, and 60 inch materials bucket with 80 inch snow bucket extension. It was a very handy unit. After the first year he left the snow bucket extension on year around including for cleaning cattle barns. A 2510/2520 would have the same engine as a 2020/2030, only in a longer Waterloo row crop chassis. Those 180/203 cid gas engines are peppy and economical. The optional hydraulic pump was the same as in a 4020. The wide front end would be the same WFE as under a 4020.

Two out of the ordinary things to check are:
1. Those are wet sleeve engines that can develop pin holes through the sleeves or loose an o-ring that separates the coolant and the oil. Personally, I doubt that a gas engine would make it 6500 hours and 45/50 years without having been overhauled once already.
2. Excessive moisture in the hydraulic fluid or the wrong hydraulic fluid can cause the brake pads to break down, that contaminates and plugs the hydraulic system.

In my opinion, if the tractor and loader are in good condition it could be a very good loader tractor.

I FINALLY got a chance to go back and look at this tractor.

It is a 2520!

I am seriously thinking about this one and I have talked with the owner. He is thinking about it! Only problem I can immediately see is the dollars to carry out any sort of transaction!
Right now I have my 52 "A" in work to replace the crankshaft and I'm working on a friends "B".
No time to work on anything else for some time to come!
