putting power steering on a 1020 diesel

What is the easiest and best way to out power steering on a 1020 diesel that has factory manual steering and how much are we looking for a aftermarket kit? thanks again.
 
Best way is to buy everything off a parts tractor. You will need the column, several lines and the pressure valve that mounts under the right floor board. I have a 1520 in the shop that we will be doing sometime this summer. Tom
 
Make sure to get the parts off a later 1020. The early ones had there own seperate power steering pump driven from the camshaft. You could use one from a 1520,2020,2030,2630,2440,2640 also check the yellow tractors 300,301,302,400 ect. Tom
 
We are looking to buy a 1020 or 1520 to pull a 5 or 6 ft bushhog, would you recommend a 1020 or 1520 and will a 1020 pull a 6 ft bushhog?

Early model 1020 & 300 up through serial number -45199 had open center power steering that was supplied hyd oil from a pump mounted on RH frt of engine

If you haven't purchased the tractor yet, you would be far ahead to look for a another tractor that has the options you want. FYI, power steering was standard on 2020 (at least it was on the later ones) and optional on the 1520 and 1020.

Manual steering parts schematic in 2020 parts catalog lists no serial break so I'm going to state manual steering was available on all 2020's. Note serial break outlined in blue on steering housing.
