Getting rusty front end linkage apart

Hello Fellows,

What is the best way to get the steering linkage apart on JD 420W. They have been soaking for a week and still will not budge. There are 3 tubes, the outer, inner, and tie rods. Thank you for all your help and answers.

next step would probably be to put heat on them with a torch

I agree with heat, but would suggest that you clean it thoroughly with brake parts cleaner or alcohol 1st. Whatever you've been soaking it in has gotten into some of the threads and heat with it there may bake it into solid carbon to augment the rust. Don't ask me how I know . . .

Don't laugh. Sometimes soaking in plain old water submerged helps.

On my 40W frt end I ended up making some new tubes for it. They were the same size as common tube I had laying around. These were what I guess are like a middle tube ? Can't remember if I cut them off the tie rod ends or why I had to make new ones for sure.
