jd 300b industrial clicking / grinding when braking

I have a 300b loader/hoe

The brakes started clicking and grinding when applied.

Before I tear into the final drives using only what is in the JD shop manual, is there anything I should know?

Also my brake controller hangs when applied, I press the pedal, then I have to pull it back up. I think most of the parts are discontinued. Can I get the tolerances somewhere to make new parts?

Thanks

One, your brake control or pedal issue is more than likely just the pedal hanging on the pivot pin. This is a common issue. Remove the pin and polish it up and apply some never seize on reassembly. As for the parts not being available I find that hard to believe as the majority of the parts in the internal wet brakes would be common with the farm tractors. I know of none of them that are not available anymore.

The clicking and grinding is probably the brake disk warped or broken by being over heated by the sticking pedal. Drain the hydraulic out and remove the final drive. You can tell real fast what is wrong usually.

Thanks for the help. Once, I get it pulled apart can you recommend any part suppliers. My JD dealer in Delaware gives me a hard time about everything and tells me its obsolete. I usually have to drive 2 hours into New Jersey for parts.

The brake parts can be got at an Ag dealer...and tell your dealer to kiss your 'elbow' an look the parts up...
