MC Crawler Foot Clutch

Just bought an MC and have been working on it. Looked for an operators manual for it on the Internet and no luck. Ended up buying one for a 40C thinking it would be 99% the same, but am finding some upgrades/differences on the 40 that mine doesn't have. Question I've got is: Do the foot pedals work independently of one another (clutch on left, brake on right) or are they in sync? When you push the pedal down on either side, the other pedal moves the same. Mine is either seized up or it's made that way. My 40C manual says they are supposed to be independent, but not sure the MC was. Wanted to ask someone who has one before I try fixing something that doesn't need fixed.
Thanks,
Pat

The foot pedals work independently of one another.

Hope this helps.

Thanks James. That clears things up. I was thinking they were separate, but wanted a 2nd opinion. My 40C manual I bought says the same thing, so I've got a stuck clutch or brake. I got the Master Parts Catalog downloaded on my computer yesterday as I'm going to need some parts for the final drives, idlers and tracks. Thanks, Pat.

The shaft for the left side brake goes through the shaft for the clutch. These seize up all the time. If you spray PB Blaster (or your favorite stuff) on the shaft on both sides of the center frame housing and try to move the pedals separately, you may be able to fee them up. In 45 years of dealing with these, I have had several that had this happen to and always up to now been able to get them loose. Then work more of your penetrant in there on a regular basis.

If you look at the FREE parts download, you can see that the brake shaft for the left side is inside the clutch shaft from the left side.

(quoted from post at 04:58:16 06/02/17) How did you make out with this?

Hello. I soaked it with PB Blaster and run some heat on the shafts from time to time for over a week and finally got them to free up two days ago. They're still a bit sticky, but move independently of one another. I am NOT getting the engine clutch to disengage from the transmission, and am hoping that it's just sticky and not needing a full blown overhaul. I am putting the track links back together today on my press and track pads put on tomorrow. Engine freed up last Saturday and runs nicely. Can't wait to get it off the jack stands and test it out. Just hoping the clutch isn't bad.
