JD A Radiator Overflow Tube

The short overflow tube in the neck of my radiator has partially rusted away. No replacement part is shown in the parts list in JDParts. I am guessing it was originally pressed into the casting in 1952. Has anyone replaced that part or made one? Is it really needed? Can it just overflow through the casting?

The overflow tube is shown in the parts catalog as p/n A2156R. It's held in the radiator neck by a packing gland p/n C1705R and packing p/n B60R. I made a replacement with 3/8" soft copper tubing and reused the packing gland with a new o-ring. When painted it looks original.

Pete,
Thank you for responding. I think the parts you are referring are on the outside of the radiator. The tube I am referring to is inside the radiator neck under the radiator cap.

Gary,
Yes, the parts are on the outside of the radiator like all overflow tubes. There's no tube inside the radiator. What you're probably seeing inside is what's left of the outside tube that stuck through the packing gland into the radiator neck. Unscrew the packing gland and then remove the piece of tube from the gland.
