John Deere MT and Attachments

So I recently picked up a John Deere MT (1951). Been parked on an adjacent farm for nearly 15 years, it was under cover and in very nice shape, or at least I thought so anyways. As we started looking around I found the original 2 bottom plow, sickle bar mower, front mounted corn planters and a full set of cultivators for it. Also found all the original manuals for it and attachments, I thought that was pretty darn neat for a 51 model year.... I have a couple questions and figured I would come to the experts for advice. I had to replace one rear rim, had a large hole in it (rust). With that job and new tire tubes I have almost $500 bucks in it. I have a friend who is helping out and working on it for me, we had two stuck valves, which we got freed up, now no fire, I'm thinking its just corrosion and am not overly worried. What is this thing worth, with attachments? Thought about selling the attachments and using that to do an overhaul and restoration, but I'm thinking the attachments make it even more desirable and rare... I googled that corn planter and found zero information?? What the heck do I have here... Is this a very rare machine?? Any thoughts would be great!! I have never done any restoration projects before and would like to get a feel for what I am getting into.. Thanks!
Jason.

We paid between $1400 and $1500 for each of our <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCUEeGboEbi-wN02uP0xcQA-tHSdtwzXu">1951 MTs</a> many years ago.

With the attachments you mentioned, here in NE Texas the combined value would be approximately $2000-2500 depending on the mechanical condition of the tractor.

Hope this helps.

I would try to keep the set together. The planter is an attachment for the cultivator, and NOT common after 60 years. Probably not worth a fortune, but still pretty neat and worth something to someone.

Keep the entire set of attachments, it makes a great display at your local show. As
you may know, that plow is unique the the Deere M model and some would consider it to
be rare. The rear mounted plow and tool bar had a sort of quick tach set up. Now
getting on or off that tractor can be a challenge. Enjoy.

If it were mine I would keep the equipment together.

While "in their day" those attachments might not have been rare as hen's teeth, having that collection today
is very unusual.

I would not sell any of the attachments IF you plan on keep the tractor. The attachments are rare and almost impossible to find. Especially if they are in usable condition. Even salvageable condition is getting hard to find.

Keep the implements and forget any major work until you get it running and see exactly what you have. No matter what you do to it keep in mind that it will never be worth
more than a few grand even if you spend ten grand making it new again.

I would say overall good condition, with a little TCL I think they would be very presentable. The corn planter is probably the worst of the bunch but still not terrible for being 60 plus years old. They kinda have me stumped though as far as mounting them up to the cultivaters, that is the one piece I don't have information on. Thanks evwryone for the suggestions though!

It took me a few years to get together a bunch of MT attachments. Had multiple 1 and two bottom plows, MT200 cultivators, MT72 snow plow, No. 5 sickle mower. I traded my tractor and implements to a local dealer for a nearly new 3pt. snowblower worth $3,500 for our bigger tractors. Keep the implements together. Finding them and then getting them usable is a chore and surely makes the tractor usable and more collectible.
