jdb 3027 trying to rebuild..I have it torn down to the variable timing shaft in the bottom of the pump..tried an allen wrench but it's tight as heck...anyone have any luck ...is it threaded...pinned..pressed..help a old timer out...thanks in advance..sincerely....

thanks pal..but too late.,..I heated it to try to loosen it and one side just broke off...in the process of drilling it out now...lol...live n learn...thanks again for your time...

Well you found out it is NOT an allen headed bolt/ball. It is straight spline. The factory tool is a ground off Torques bit. The original one was a Bristol spline. I have a set of them that I keep just for those screws. Taking a pin punch that fits down into the very bottom of the head of the ball and then hitting it hard will really help knock them loose.

The very first cam screws were allen wrench type, and were likely to crack. Next was the Bristol type for years, then Stanadyne switched to torx type and stopped selling the Bristol tool in the 90s. Used to have two old Mack American Bosch barrels to help get out the broken screws. Hitting the screw center works too, but the cam ring may be cracked when done.

after it broke...ended up cutting it off and mig welded a bolt to it...worked great...in case anyone ever has the same problem...not likely though...as I have to LEARN constantly...thanks for the replies...from what I can find it's a cam advance screw...part # 33627....anyone familiar with the exact part number feel free...it's on a 3027 roosa master...
