4250 Plowing

As I said I was going to be doing some plowing with my 4250 and 4200 rollover plow. The last three days I got a lot of plowing in and more to go. Here are a few pictures.

The 4250 handles the plow better than my 4320 did. I am enjoying the Sound Guard Cab as it is so much quieter and comfortable then the Hinson cab on my 4320. I was able to adjust the Hydraulic Seat in the 4250 to suit my back. I am also getting used to the Quad Range Transmission. It is working better for my task than I thought it might. I like the Hi-Low Power Shift to gear down for my turns.

I plowed in a light rain for five hours today. It was an alfalfa field and flat so I was able to maintain traction as long as I did not go back over any dirt that had been open to the rain for awhile.

Nice outfit doing a great job. I have thought about a roll over plow but we have just about stopped plowing anymore. Nothing looks much better than a plowed field with all the trash buried. Thanks for posting. Tom

Thanks Tom for your comments. A neighbor does organic farming and finds plowing helps a lot with the weeds. He does tight rotations. He also plows down some pretty nice tall alfalfa to create fertilizer for his crops.

I plowed an organic field yesterday, I could not believe all the earth worms in the furrow. Obviously there was something healthy about that soil. The birds sure hung close to me. They had to be getting stuffed with worms.

Some people equate organic farming with a lot of weeds but I have to say his crops look really good. He is converting another farm to organic so I just got a bunch more plowing.

2510 Paul, I'm an hour away from Lacrosse, wondering if you email? (Mine should be shown in the old style view on here).

Dad has a 2520 with a K&M toolbox on it, but with the front weights on it the frame rails aren't long enough for it to sit level, wondering if the shop you had your plate for your 4250 would possibly be interested in making me one for him. Thanks! Ryan

I sent an e-mail Ryan.

I suggested:

I get my steel there and if I need something made I cannot make I usually go there first. The folks are good to work with.
