I cannot get the 3pt. arms to raise and lower properly. I have the lever below the seat in the LD position, and that is the only position I can get the arms to raise or lower at all. Any help with why the arms will not work in the other two positions would be greatly appreciated!

I'd start with an adjustment procedure outlined in the book. Even the I&T books have this in it. I don't remember EXACTLY how it is done but has helped me out on a few of them.

Thanks. I actually just got the I&T book and do remember something about adjustment. I will try and see if it works. Do you have any idea why the other two positions will not work at all, or will the adjustment of the LD position get them working?

I had a 2520 come in that I don't think anything worked ? First thing I did was make sure the linkage was free to move and then I did the adjustment in the book and wala ! it all worked after that. Don't know how it got so far out of whack ?
You have to go in from a hole in the back trans. housing. MAKE DARN sure you fasten the socket to the extension so it doesn't fall off. Duct tape seemed to work for me.

Thanks Mike. I will give it a try. Thanks for the duct tape info. Will keep you posted!

Has the top cover been off recently? Had a 4030 recently that had a similar complaint, turns out he didn't get the load shaft follower in the right spot and it obviously won't work properly.

I not sure what you mean by top cover. If you are talking about under the seat..No!. I did have to replace the load sensing shaft at the very bottom of tractor because of severe hyd. leak. Didn't have the I&T book at the time, but got the new shaft in without much trouble. If it needed adjusting after replacement, It didn't happen. The 3pt. worked for a little bit, then it would not raise up. I found the lever under the seat all the way up, and when I repositioned to the LD position it started working.
But now the arms will not stay in position and creep lower as I'm using a blade or bush hog.

Put lever under seat in "D" to see if that makes a difference.

Have already tried in D and L positions and nothing happens. Will only work in the LD position and then it still will not stay up and wants to creep down. I have to constantly keep an eye on it. If I get the lever too far up, next thing I know it all the way up and vice versa. I guess that what I get for buying a 50 plus year old tractor, but I love it anyway!

On an old 4010 the linkage gets very loose over the years,,adjusting the cam follower may take up enough slack to make it work better..

Thanks. It looks like ya'll have given me several things to try. I really appreciate the help. Looks like I need to get my hands dirty and get this tractor working again. Wish me luck!

Just to recap, you replaced the load shaft and seals. Did the hitch work properly before doing this work?

It seemed to work fine, it just leaked like a sieve. I cannot be sure what position the lever under the seat was in before the repair, but it looks like it was in the LD position. I didn't even know it had that kind of adjustment. I got the I&T book and started reading about it...that's when I found out about it. I'm going to try everyone's suggestions and see if one corrects the problem. I want to put the lever in the D position, set it and forget it. Do you think when I replaced the shaft, I didn't get something back in the correct position? It's been a while since I worked on a tractor, and I didn't have any kind of repair manual to help out.
