Finally got around to looking at my 4430,going to try and attach pics, but I can not find where to block off axle lock to isolate it and find out if its the problem or spider gears.
also if I have to change carrier (spider gears) anyone know for sure how they come out? I have had some tell me take cab off, rockshaft cover and take axles out then carrier comes out top. another said no just pull axle(bells) and it will come out thru where axle bell bolts to housin

This line here goes to the diff lock, unscrew it and no oil should leak under pressure if the valve is good, cap it to keep it from slobbering and drive it some.

Tim thanks for your reply, I did pull that line off and started tractor, lots of fluid out of line was going to plug line but was not sure and didn't want to goof something up?
Should there be pressure at that line running? (Axle lock pedal up not depressed) if so OK to plug line and try it?

It may slobber a bit but should not be much and it will not hurt to plug the line, it will need a JIC male plug to cap it,,and One time I had a 4430 come in here with a little differential noise and it had some thing not letting the pedal return under the floor board,, so give that some thought too...

To answer the rest of your question the diff comes out the top.
Axles and rockshaft housing have to be removed.
