2510 narrow front

I don't have much experience with JD narrow fronts. I just picked up a 2510. I thought the new generation tractors came standard with the Rollamatic front end. Mine has a different one. Not sure if it's even a JD. Anyone happen to know what this is.

Looks like a JD front. Look for a part number. Rolo Matic may have been an option. May have been a Farmer switch.

Rollomatic was an option on all new generation tractors. You have the standard Deere pedestal. Tractor pullers seem to like them so more than likely you can trade it for a rollomatic. I am in southwest WI and I would trade you. I just got a 2510 in that we will be parting out after corn planting. Tom

That's interesting, and a new one on me also. Looks to me like it could well be OEM.
Story-
Dad ordered the first 2510 in this area. Arrived April 1966. He ordered it with the rollamatic, replacing the similarly equipped 50. I don't know why, but it arrived and was delivered with a wide front. He demanded they come out and change it, which with my years of hindsight, I think was a mistake. I think he could have bargained and kept it quite reasonably. The family liked the tractor so much my uncle traded Dad's former 50 for a 2510 the next year. They were able to find wide drive in adaptors for the front mounted cultivators and bean pullers. The wide front worked so much nicer than the narrow.

Fast forward to just a few years back- I was able to rescue Dad's 2510 from setting outside. I rewired it, and installed a wide front. I couldn't find a good wide front locally, and by the time I could get one here from the midwest, the new A&I was no more expensive. So, if you want to go wide, there's an option. Great little tractor. I sold it, but I have a 2520 I put a diesel engine in.

Yeah, I think the 2510's are some of the nicest tractors made. I already have a wide front 2510. Picked this up at a sale the other day. Going to need more work than i thought though.

I just sold a 70 year old and a 60 year old tractor, and bought a 40 year old. It looks real nice, and I drove it home. I have since spent over $1200 in odds and ends of parts, and put a LOT of time into it! The tractors I sold had fairly new tires and rims. This tractor will probably need new tires before I am through with it.

I won an auction on ebay for a 2510 diesel for a little over $4,000. Two years and a different engine and hydraulic pump later, it is a fine little worker, and is a perfect fit with my 4 row 7000 planter I use for sweetcorn patches. I probably wouldn't sell it for less than 10K.
