Machining John Deere B rocker arm assembly

Seeking advice regarding the tappet assembly on my John Deere late B. I bought a spare rocker arm assembly for my B and disassembled it today and put it in to soak in some degreaser. For the most part, the assembly seems to be in pretty good shape. However, as seen in the attached photos, there are some pretty deep striations on the shaft from the ends of the spring between the two intake tappet levers. Can this shaft be machined by any competent machine shop? I would also like to machine the cups on the tappet levers and would like to know whether they are in particularly bad shape or not. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Peter Markel

I have the set up on my valve grinder if you want to get them redone. call me at 605 270 1844. i charge $20.00 to do them

Don't worry about the shaft if only worn in the spring area. Machining it smaller will make the rocker arms loose. The rocker tips should be refaced. Any engine machine shop should be able to do that for you.

hanks for the advice. Can I polish some of the surface rust/corrosion off the shaft with some steel wool?

Kent, thank you for the offer. I'll be sure to remember that if my local shop doesn't have the right setup.
