G Remote Cylinder

I bought my G last year from a man that farmed with it for the last 55 years. It included a remote cylinder that he said came with the tractor when he bought it. He said the rod is very pitted with rust and leaks badly. A friend of mine gave me a rod part number A3579R which looks similar but is a little different then the rod in the cylinder.

I'd like to get it working any any tips ideas on how to fix it would be appreciated.

you need the AF1073R for your cyl.

Can I just pull the rod and replace it or are there other parts that need to be replaced at the same time?

Take it to a reputable hydraulic cylinder repair shop. They can weld on a new chrome rod. The should be able to put any threads you need on the end.
