What exactly is the difference between the one bottom plow for the M vs the MT? I have a copy of the instruction manual for the plows and it simply says the M1 is used with the model M with 24 inch rims. The MT1A is used with the MT with 26 inch rims. How can I tell if the plow that I have is actually for the M or MT?

The long shank that goes under the transmission is 14" longer on the Mt. I believe you can use a Mt plow on a M , but not sure you can use a M plow on a Mt. Tom Ziegler

Along with the below info. I'm not sure but also the amount of drop on that long part that goes under the tractor might be different too. Those tractors vary in height.

You are probably right, I read the book too quick. It actually says "MT1A is a quick-Tatch, one bottom, 14, 16, or 18 inch, Integral Tractor Plow for John Deere Model "MT" Tractor, and 14 or 16 inch for Model "M" tractor with 26 inch rear tires."

Looking at the schematics not only is the long bar that goes under the tractor different for the M or MT, but the yolk that hangs in the middle of the tractor is also different based on having the M or MT plow. For the MT the bars hang straight down, for the M they have a curve too them. The hanger that the long beam rests on is also different based on which plow you have.

I better stop doing all this research and just use what I have. It works just fine twice a year for plow day!!
