Methods for turning engine over slowly

Hi,

I would like to set the valve gaps on my 1020. What methods work to turn the engine over slowly so I can set it at TDC?

You can spoon the engine over with a screwdriver by removing the fly wheel plug cover on the left side of the clutch housing, for 1 way..keep the fan belt tight and turn the fan for another way,, and there is a turning tool used by the dealers that went into the starter gear on the left side..

Do you have an old square body PTO shaft? Put PTO in gear and turn the shaft with your largest crescent wrench.

I just put my wrench directly on the PTO stub.

Thanks. Screwdriver on flywheel worked best for me.
